Welcome back from the holidays. We hope you had a safe and relaxing break. Here’s a quick round-up of some recent deals and happenings across the industry:

In celebrity-brand partnerships….   Blair Underwood has partnered with K&G Fashion Superstores to release his own line of clothing, “BU” featuring dressy and casual wear. Singer Alesha Dixon has been tapped to create a song to be featured in a Weight Watchers UK commercial (on the heels of their latest US partnership with NBA legend Charles Barkley). San Francisco 49er tight end Vernon Davis has joined Team Arctic Ease, to promote the brand’s cold therapy products. He joins Patriot’s Ron Gronkowski and Dallas Cowboys receiver Laurent Robinson, among others.  K-Swiss has released a new campaign featuring their spokesperson Jillian Michaels entitled “The Party’s Over,” encouraging post-holiday work outs. In Music…  The Recording Academy has announced its Special Merits Award recipients. This year’s honorees include the Allman Brothers, Diana Ross and George Jones.

In Movies….   Film star Brad Pitt was named the top money maker of 2011 by Quigley Publishing Company's 80th Annual Poll of Motion Picture Exhibitors due to the success of “The Tree of Life”, “Moneyball” and “Happy Feet 2.” He’s followed by George Clooney, Johnny Depp and Leonardo DiCaprio. In a new print ad, The Academy invites viewers to join them and “Celebrate the Movies in all of us.”

In TV….   FOX has announced that it will cancel the "So You Think You Can Dance" results show. ABC’s "New Year’s Rockin’ Eve" drew nearly 13M viewers, while NBC’s counter programming with Carson Daly drew 3M. Also, Brad Goreski (recently named Kate Spade New York’s exclusive brand sylist) premiered his new show on Bravo entitled “It’s a Brad, Brad World.” NBC has announced that it has sold its entire Super Bowl ad inventory. The network also officially launched the NBC Sports Network (replacing Versus) to compete with sports stalwart ESPN.
