Intriguing People to look for in 2012: Part II

To continue our conversation on rising stars that will make a splash in 2012, here are some more names to throw into the mix for brand consideration in the coming year:

Kelly Oxford: Funny-women started to make waves in 2011, with comediennes like Whitney Cummings, Chelsea Handler, and Melissa McCarthy chiseling at male dominated world.  2012 will see a continuation of this movement with help from blogger Kelly Oxford, who just signed a new deal with NBC to produce a half-hour comedy with Friends executive producer,  Ira Ungerleider.  The show will be loosely based on her popular blog and Twitter feed, which feeds some snarky prospective into the world of parenting, home life, and womanhood.

Read more after the jump:

Ricki Lake: After starring in cult-favorite Hairspray and hosting an 11-year-run of her eponymous talk show, Ricki Lake has already waltzed into the public eye again, with a lot of help from her performance on this latest season of Dancing with the Stars.  She has come back from the shadows with an improved Twitter following, slimmer look, and refreshed attitude, which has propelled her to grab the reins of daytime TV once again with a syndicated talk show due out September 2012.

Elizabeth Olsen: When two sisters are as famous and powerful as the Olson twins, it’s hard to not wonder if any others exist in the high-profile family.  Turns out, they do.   Significant buzz has surrounded younger-sister Elizabeth Olsen’s breakthrough performances in Martha Marcy May Marlene and Silent House, proving this she can pave a career path of her own.  The actress and graduate of NYU’s prestigious Tische School of Performing Arts has four films due out in the next year, including Very Good Girls alongside  Peter Sarsgaard, Dustin Hoffman, Sissy Spacek, and Daokota Fanning.

Joe Manganiello: With credits from shows like ER and How I Met Your Mother, Mangianiello swept audiences with his role as werewolf Alcide on HBO’s True Blood, which will begin its 5th season in June. In 2012, he will portray a male stripper in Steven Soderbergh’s Magic Mike, and join the ensemble cast of What To Expect When You’re Expecting.  Known for a superhuman (werewolf, perhaps) workout regimen, Manganiello is attractive to fitness brands, active lifestyle labels, or any healthy living companies, in addition to any brand looking for a fresh, chiseled new face.
